Officially Rotten on RT. 59%. (52% Top Critics)

I thought Chocolat was rotten as well, but appently it had a 62. so what's the last BP nominee to earn this prestigious honor?

Chocolat was at 59-60% for a long time, though. Maybe in 2-3 years, The Reader is back to fresh again.

I'd assume its reputation was much more ambivalent when it came out for obvious reasons. Think The Notebook, except it making quadruple what it did.

RT doesn't matter before 1990. The way that reviews were done before it really got it's groove on is different from the way it comes together now.

I would guess that a number of films from the sixties (Dr. Doolittle, The Alamo, Cleopatra) that almost literally bought the nomination had worse critical consensuses.
