You know?? To be perfectly honest here, I could give a Rats Ass about the Oscars this Year since there REALLY isn't a movie that's grabbed my attention like in previous years and I see all these critics and posters proclaiming MILLION DOLLAR BABY as the movie that will confidentally Win BEST PICTURE and I just decided that I smell a total upset here for the mere fact that there making this sound TOO Obvious with MDB Winning it, so on that note, I'm gonna totally go against the Grain on this movie and Boldly Predict "RAY" To Win BEST PICTURE and pull the Upset... It too was a REALLY Good movie with Jamie Foxx giving an Incredible performance to and how could anyone argue with me on this?? ![]() ![]() |

Actually Aviator is the movie most likely to win Best Picture not MDB ( get your facts straight ), though MDB is right behind it. I loved Ray - but it's chances of getting best picture are as slim as you making a decent/accurate thread. I dont know how MDB is the obvious winner, dont make threads when you dont even know what the hell you're talking about. Many people think Ray had a mediocre script ( I liked it but oh well ) and think the only redeeming part of it is Jamie Foxx's performance, it's one of those movies that shouldnt of even been nominated for best picture. |

The only vocal support that I'm really seeing for Aviator, are from Marty fans, or people that feel he's due or owed something for past work. Just look around, and you'll see that Aviator has no advantages like you say it does. |

The academy is lame like that. I think Aviator is the least liked movie of the bunch when it comes to casual movie goers - but we're not voting for what movie will win best picture. |

Well, M$B is actually the type of film that the academy adores. LA papers and Hollywood seem to be showing their support for M$B, and how many of those academy voters live there? Then when you consider the makeup of the academy... 1,298 Actors 465 Producers 433 Executives 403 Writers 416 Sound 365 Public relations 366 Art directors 372 Directors 366 Members-at-large 307 Shorts 241 Music composers, lyricists 239 Visual effects 222 Film editors 182 Cinematographers 128 Documentarians Eastwood seems to have quite a few of those job listings on his resume. Lots of colleagues in each profession. It's a 2 picture race, but no facts are putting either movie in front, but it's not leaning toward The Aviator at this point with the momentum that M$B has picked up. It peaked at the perfect time, as it's heavily being praised while voting is going on. |

To each is own and at least I don't fall into the catagory of "Film Snob Elite Film Expert" like alot of sites have in the internet world, Rotten Tomatoes Especially along with IGN... Also, I never hailed AVP and WHITE NOISE as Epics, but they were Fantastic and a hell of alot better than the internet world panned them out to be cause there not COOL and HIP movies that fall into popular concensus and what's popular to Bash.. You also say "I Promise You RAY Will Not Win".. How can you make a promise like that when none of us REALLY know who's going to Win BEST PICTURE?? ![]() ![]() |

First of all, no one is getting banned. Second, BKB, i'm sorry - but Ray has no chance in hell of winning. It's pretty much a two horse race right now between The Aviator and M$B. I'll be pulling for M$B since I believe The Aviator to be overrated Oscar bait trash. |

Actually, I'm inclined to believe that BOTH Aviator and MDB are Overrated and that benefits "RAY" since it's not.. You say it has no chance in hell of winning, but it has just as good a chance at winning as the other lackluster films up for nominations.. Hell, even todays USA TODAY says that there basically shocked that not everyone is rushing out to see MDB and Aviator and that's it's unusual for Oscar Nominated movies not to have already passed 100 Million dollars at the box office.. Here's a Quote from USATODAY On it: http://www.usatoday.com/life/movies/mov ... nges_x.htm "Organizers still have to overcome a slate of films that has yet to produce a blockbuster at the box office, and some nominees who are relatively unknown to the public. None of the best-picture nominees —The Aviator, Million Dollar Baby, Neverland, Ray and Sideways— has taken in more than $100 million. And several acting nominees are from such little-seen movies as Being Julia, Vera Drake and Maria Full of Grace. "They only way you'd have guaranteed a big audience is if Passion of the Christ and Fahrenheit 9/11 were squaring off for best picture," says Brandon Gray of BoxOfficeMojo.com. "Now they need something else to stay relevant." |

Of the films, I definately think that the vast majority of the public that has seen at least one of the films, that film is likely to be Ray. One of those is my mom (who has actually seen The Aviator too). She absolutely loved Ray, and even called me to tell me so. If the public was voting, I might give it more chances. Ray will lose Best Picture and win Best Actor, and will always be better remembered for being a Jamie Foxx vehicle than a Best Picture nominee. I think it has done pretty well for itself, better than expected by most people considering it was an indie black film. I actually think the five films this year are audience friendly. I keep hearing from people who just saw Sideways and LOVED it (wherein I say, "You know, if you liked Sideways, there is this whole world of indie drama cinema you are absolutely missing"). People see Million Dollar Baby, love it. The audience also really likes The Aviator and thinks it is a good ride. And Finding Neverland definately touched more people beyond me. The problem this year is that people really just don't have access to the films. They are hard to find! I dunno... gotta go to work. |

This just won't happen. Would be undeserved too, IMO. |

Ray is the lowest nominee on the totem when it comes to best picture. If any film were to benefit from the Aviator/M$B clash it would be Sideways. BKB, last year I believe you were hoping for a similar upset out of Lost In Translation. In that case there was actually a reasonable chance of it happening, but this year there really is no way Ray could win the big one. |

BKB, I gotta love ya for bringing some spice to the award forum. Should Ray win? It's a good biopic. Not the best I've ever seen but no major issues with it either. It's certainly the most popular of the 5 films, so on that note, it's clearly beyond the other 4. Will it win? There's only one spoiler in this foot race between Hughes and Mo Chuisle. And it ain't Ray. |
