Who is going to an Oscar Party? Like a biggie, with gowns and suites and champaign and everything. Or is anyone hosting one at their home for friends and making it very fancy? Where I used to work these women ordered a cake once and wanted someone to draw oscar on it, no one knew how to do it except me so i had to ice a big oscar award on the top. I told them they'de better pray Chris Cooper got best supporting actor, and he did, so all was well. But I thought it was cute they were making an occassion of it, not just chips and soda. My friends mom does a big one where everyone gets dressed up too. Two years ago I went to my first one hosted in a theatre, It was $25 dollars up front but was fully catered with an open bar, and the show was projected onto big screen and everyone was dressed up all "nice 'n fancy." So I loved it enough that last year i found a theatre that did it in Chicago too, and its really quite fun. Especially when the crowd is into it and cheer for their fave nominees. Plus, i think people just look better dressed up, especially ones with unique sense of style. Like a little colorful vest under the jacket or something. anyways, I'm undecided if i'll go up to boston and go to the original one i went to, or if i'll look for one around here. I know people that are psyched for it there while here the people I've met are not into the more cheesy aspects of the film industry. they make my film tastes seem mainstream. ![]() Who else is? I'll be dissappointed if the top ten posters in this forum aren't making a big deal of it and are just watching it quietly, this is like our superbowl. ![]() |

The lives of me and my friends have been torn apart by catty behavior, lies, jealousy, love and passion, and suicide and death since my last party. So I find myself with only one or two friends at the moment. So I won't be hosting a party (no, the drama isn't all my fault! I'm hardly a part of it ![]() |

When I lived in Chicago Dolce, we would rotate hosts. Betting pools, door prizes, the whole nine. Chris isn't a fan of award shows and my new locale doesn't have Oscar parties. So I'll be watching it alone and hosting a thread for other depressed souls, for the second year in a row. |

Awwwwwww. Germany and Mexico are not an excuse, $10 says you'd actually enjoy one Lecter and Mata, and just wouldn't admit it the next day. Andaroo, I know, since I just moved I only know about two or three new people here. I would never host one actually because the thought of me having been nice enough to people at any one point in my life to actually have 10 friends is preposterious. ![]() Loyal, we went to the Brew and View in Chicago last year. it was cute cause of the theatre setting and sitting at little tables with drink. They opened up the balcony too. I made my BF dress up at the time and he came in an outfit that looked an awful lot like something Sean Connery was recently caught wearing at the Oscars (think big frill). I wore a gold dress. My two friends had summer dresses on. Twas fun. Yeah, I might go up to Boston to go with my sister and one other (th only) college friend I have. But I would like to find a fun one and some people around here maybe. Its great, dosn't matter who wins really because a section of the crowd is always excited so its fun to feel the audiance. |

The thing is not that I wouldn't enjoy one or not. The thing is that there are none. The award ceremony is at 1 am - 5 am local time, so... |

My two friends had summer dresses on. Twas fun. I miss the Vic. That's where I saw Wanda Sykes in concert last year, front row and all. I've seen some great films there, Candyman 2 (with Tony Todd in the audience), a ton of Tarantino flicks, I think I saw From Dusk Til Dawn there and maybe even Faster Pussycat, Kill, Kill. Viewing and Brewing, while sexing it up on Sheffield (I had a few encounters there). One thing I don't miss are the cover charges for some of larger parties. To avoid them, my buddy, who lived in Boys Town would host and when he couldn't or when we were alternating, I would host in my loft in the South Loop. Once I moved out of the city to the burbs, the vibe of the parties started to change a bit. Then I moved to farmland USA. ](*,) |

Like Lecter and matatonio, being in Japan makes it difficult to have an Oscar party. I'll be hanging out here with whoever is kind enough to post the winners. [-o< |

I find that hard to believe. I was looking forward to him make fun of winners and losers. His quick wit will go to waste otherwise. But if he does lay low, we'll need lots of witty dialogue to make it through the night. |

I just wish I could see the expressions on the faces when the winners are announced. |
