These are the only names that I see listed... Presenters: Charlize Theron Renee Zellweger Orlando Bloom Tim Robbins Salma Hayek Martin Scorsese (his turn at being on stage this year...lol) Halle Berry Gyneth Paltrow Penelope Cruz Zhang Ziyi Robin Williams I don't see Peter Jackson or Sean Penn listed, and I sure hope they don't thumb their nose at the academy after getting awarded last year. :???: |

I think Jackson is still knee deep in King Kong, and it's a long way to fly from New Zealand for an awards show you have no part in. Not sure about Penn, he's probably either still showing up or on the set of a film somewhere. |

I think that should be part of the obligation of winning, as do most of the people who schedule their day around a ceremony that they have nothing to gain anything from. I'm sorry, but it's not cool to be handed an 11 Oscar sweep, and then say you have better things to do the next year. He can surely afford to come to Hollywood for a an overnighter, and do his part to support the industry, as well as show off his new physique. ![]() Sean Penn is another that has no excuse. It's not like they didn't have an entire year to plan around being there. Bill Murray would have been there with bells on. |

Do you think the Oscar telecast really wants Peter Jackson to give out an award anyway? I mean... typically they tend go to for good looking fashion types. It's not traditional for directors to give out awards unless they are huge celebrities anyway. And Jackson is not a huge celebrity. Steven Soderbergh didn't, Sam Mendes didn't, Ron Howard didn't although he is more well known (the year after his award), obviously Roman Polanski didn't hehehe. Speilberg is the exception. Gibson presented too. |

Was I also looking for a reason to take a shot at Sean Penn, or was that just my way of trying to hide my "true intentions"? ![]() Jackson won 11 awards, he should be there supporting the Oscars. Penn won best actor, he should be there supporting the Oscars. It's that simple... |

Why do you want to do handsprings trying to disagree with me today? You are tripping over yourself to disagree, no matter what the issue is. Did somebody pee in your Rice Crispies or something? ![]() |

The same gift awards that you're tripping over yourself to convince us Clint will win? Aren't you babysitting? |

The same gift awards that you're tripping over yourself to convince us Clint will win? Aren't you babysitting? First, never joke about my mom like that. I don't like that, and think it's classless to go there. Don't tell me to lighten up either. That was immature and rude to say, regardless of the intent. I'm not mad, I'm just letting you know how I feel about that stuff. My discussions have been fine, but you have this weird hardon to disagree for the sake of disagreeing with me. Gift awards...best song, best editing... The awards that tipped the scales for the record. But of course, you projected yourself on me yet again, as if I was speaking about the BP and directing. I was speaking about the record number of awards, which is why I even typed the word 'record", and I haven't heard anybody credible say that ROTK deserved 11. Again, just another example of how you are reaching for reasons to argue... I'm not babysitting, I had to pick my niece up at her friend's, and drop her off elsewhere. She didn't have a ride. |

About Peter Jackson, It's very rare that a winning director presents. I can't remember Barry Levinson, Robert Zemekis, Oliver Stone, James Cameron, Steven Soderburgh, or any guys like that presenting. If a director is a well-known actor like Mel Gibson or Kevin Costner that's another story. As for Sean Penn, he should present. I won't be surprised if he doesn't. The only reason he probably showed up last year is in support of Eastwood. |

Kate Winslet, Kirsten Dunst, and Al Pacino will also be presenting. I wonder what category Ziyi will present. Maybe Rob Marshall or other cast members will be there too since Memoir just finished filming in L.A. |

Maverikk wrote: I haven't heard anybody credible say that ROTK deserved 11 [oscars]. Because it didn't. No film does. The Oscars suck anyway. I don't see why you all put so much weight behind them in your whole LOTR thing... On a side note, Best Song is a complete joke and should be removed from the Oscars. And it didn't deserve Adapted screenplay. It should have gone to Mystic River, IMO. And the editing was very iffy. For me, at least. As for presenters, I don't see why Penn or Jackson should present an award. I mean, I could dig it if the winner of the previous years award handed it off to that year's award...as in Penn would present the Best Actor, Jackson the best Director, Shore the best score, etc. But that's not how it works, so I don't see any sort of obligation to do it. Isn't everything about the Oscars voluntary anyway? I mean, accepting it, presenting, even showing up. |
