Post subject:  Which Movies made mistakes that (will) cost them the Oscar?
Which Movies made mistakes that (will) cost them the Oscar?

For example, was it a mistake for Eternal Sunshine to be released when it was - was it February?

Or what categories were the nomination submissions bad choices?

Etc.

And if the Aviator comes away with nothing from the categories - Picture, Director, or Actor - what happened, did something go wrong that caused to lose its Oscar chances ( Forgeting about the Supporting Award as that is more secondary to the above categories. )

Or was it that the movie was more of an Oscar "possible winner" before it was finished and shown.

So why does the flower wilt?

Nope, the hype was correct.

If Aviator loses (still a big if), it would be because people have more passion for Million Dollar Baby. Not because Aviator did "something wrong".

Hotel Rwanda and Eternal Sunshine were victims of bad studio pushes. Although who knows if United Artists could have pulled Hotel Rwanda up high enough. One can argue that if the public got a chance to see it earlier, it could have pulled in more box office and attention.

Eternal Sushine suffered because, first, being moved to 2004 because of Lost in Translation, then having Focus seemingly care more about Vanity Fair and Motorcycle Diaries.

Miramax and Michael Moore should never have pulled Fahrenheit 9/11 out of the Best Docu race.
