Who's waking up early for the announcements?
So how many people are planning on waking early just to watch the Oscar nominations? Or do you usually wake up around that time anyway?
btw, what is the real time they announce it? like 5:40am PST?

Re: Who's waking up early for the announcements?
I think I am. And then going back to sleep when they're done, as I have the morning off.
I'm really psyched for this year, I don't know why. Maybe because it's been so unpredictable.

I think we're gonna see at least one blockbuster WTF tomorrow. Last year had Iwo Jima storming the beaches and grenading Dreamgirls, year before saw Star Wars locked out of visual effects, before that, Giamatti.

I've woken up early for the announcement for the last 7 years. No point in stopping now.

It's always been round 5:38 AM Pacific. And yes, I'm already wide awake then as I leave for work shortly.
Early riser for the nods since 1998!

Since I live in the central time zone, I'll be in school, but what the hell it is just morning announcements, and I usually don't do much until we start filming so I guess I could sneak a peak before hand.

I also think it is because it has been so unpredictable, and while I like to think I've got the major categories pinned down, I really am very unsure about my predictions. I could see there being many surprises. I will be up to catch the nominations, but that's because I'd have to be up anyways for class (I'm in the Eastern time zone, so they announce here at 8:30am, which isn't really that early). Peace, Mike

I'll be at work.
But like a total nerd, I am taping the announcements and watching them when I come home. And I won't be checking during the day and getting spoiled.

I'm getting up early. Probably not 5:30, but a little bit earlier than I usually do. (I'm usually up around 6:15 AM.)

The network morning shows usually broadcast it, since they're such a big announcement. I'll be checking them out on ABC or NBC, probably.

No I'll be asleep. I don't have a class until two tomorrow so I get to sleep in a bit. I'll TiVo them though and then watch it right after I get up.

Re: Who's waking up early for the announcements?
I was so pissed last year. I hit the snooze button and woke up when it was over. But I won't miss it this time. Even though I'm going to be reading for the next 3 hours till like 1am probably because I didn't do any of the work I should have this weekend. Don't worry Christian, you're off duty this time.
