 Re: Official 80th Oscar Poster!
2006, the male version, is a little phallic, eh?

 Re: Official 80th Oscar Poster!
I like it.
'07 is my favorite, though. I like '06, too.
'05 was pretty hideous. I don't like '04 either.

 Re: Official 80th Oscar Poster!
Generally I don't like Oscar posters, but this one is quite nice. The 2000 and the paparazzi edition are the most hideous ones posted above.

Kinda generic compared to the cooler stuff they've done. Too Star Wars.

 Re: Official 80th Oscar Poster!
I think it's an all out in-your-face kinda remark to the Writer's Strike. I mean come on, it's so glitsy and glamorous. They're kinda saying, "like fuck you can take us down, we're gonna be more glamorous than ever." Anyway. One thing that REALLLLY bothers me (and this is SO weird I know) is that they put the time as "8ET/5PT" whereas ALL the years before it was "5PT/8ET." I don't know why they would change. It makes things very confused if you ask me. Not for me but people always are confused when I tell them the Oscars start at around 5-5:30, so if it's not the first thing they see, I think some are seriously dumb enough to not realize it. It is a pretty nice poster by the way.

2004 and 2006 are the only two (three) I really like. The rest are all kinda lame.

The last 3 years have been killer IMO. Before that 2002 was the only really great one among a pile of shit.

 Re: Official 80th Oscar Poster!
I don't like it much. I dunno if it's wet or blurry or what, but it doesn't look that great. I loved last year's the most.

 Re: Official 80th Oscar Poster!
People liked 2006??? That one seemed boring and easily done, and the male one seemed poorly made even. I do agree though 2005 and 2004 were bad, even worse than 2006.
My favorites are 2008, 2007, 2002, 2001, and 1998.

 Re: Official 80th Oscar Poster!
I liked 2007 not because of the poster but because accompanying the poster they had this really big advertising campaign (at least in L.A.) where they had billboards with different classic movie quotes. It was very classy and very well done.

 Re: Official 80th Oscar Poster!
Am I the only person who thinks every single last one of the previous posters are utter shit? Sure, some are more shit than others (the gaudy '05 one, that godawful paparazzi cartoon one, but most of all that lazy, times new roman fonted "Sunday At The Oscars" poster with random nonsensical bells substituting the 'A's), but this poster is clearly the only one that could be classified as good.

 Re: Official 80th Oscar Poster!
2002 was pretty good and I kinda like 1998 for some reason.

It's great. Whoever did the campaign for this years Oscar deserves an Oscar himself (or herself).

 Re: Official 80th Oscar Poster!
So I guess we won't be seeing an "Oscar Family Album" (with past acting winners) given the strike and all?
