OSCAR PREDICTIONS GAME - THE WINNERS Okay, now that the Nominations game went pretty successfully and hopefully enjoyable for everyone, here is the Wins game. GUIDELINES: 1. To make the game not too boring by just having you predicting the winners, I'll use the points system that Levy has invented last year for such a game. You don't simply predict the winner in each category, you predict the winner in the LIKELIHOOD to win. I give you an example: Let's say I ask you to predict Best Picture, then you have to rank them in the likeliness of movies to win, like this for instance: 1. The Aviator 2. Milion Dollar Baby 3. Sideways 4. Finding Neverland 5. Ray For each ranking there are points. Let's say, you pit Sideways at the third spot, so you'll get the amount of points that the third spot gives. That's pretty much all you need to know. If you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask :) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- THE GAME: 1. Predict the winner in each of the following categories in the likelihood of winning: BEST PICTURE: 1. 10 Points 2. 9 points 3. 8 points 4. 7 points 5. 6 points BEST DIRECTOR: 1. 10 Points 2. 9 points 3. 8 points 4. 7 points 5. 6 points BEST ACTOR: 1. 10 Points 2. 9 points 3. 8 points 4. 7 points 5. 6 points BEST ACTRESS: 1. 10 Points 2. 9 points 3. 8 points 4. 7 points 5. 6 points BEST SUPPORTING ACTOR: 1. 10 Points 2. 9 points 3. 8 points 4. 7 points 5. 6 points BEST SUPPORTING ACTRESS: 1. 10 Points 2. 9 points 3. 8 points 4. 7 points 5. 6 points BEST ANIMATED FEATURE: 1. 5 points 2. 4 points 3. 3 points BEST ORIGINAL SCREENPLAY: 1. 5 points 2. 4 points 3. 3 points 4. 2 points 5. 1 point BEST ADAPTED SCREENPLAY: 1. 5 points 2. 4 points 3. 3 points 4. 2 points 5. 1 point BEST ART DIRECTION: 1. 5 points 2. 4 points 3. 3 points 4. 2 points 5. 1 point BEST CINEMATOGRAPHY: 1. 5 points 2. 4 points 3. 3 points 4. 2 points 5. 1 point BEST COSTUME DESIGN: 1. 5 points 2. 4 points 3. 3 points 4. 2 points 5. 1 point BEST DOCUMENTARY FEATURE: 1. 5 points 2. 4 points 3. 3 points 4. 2 points 5. 1 point FILM EDITING: 1. 5 points 2. 4 points 3. 3 points 4. 2 points 5. 1 point FOREIGN LANGUAGE FILM: 1. 5 points 2. 4 points 3. 3 points 4. 2 points 5. 1 point BEST MAKE-UP: 1. 5 points 2. 4 points 3. 3 points BEST SCORE: 1. 5 points 2. 4 points 3. 3 points 4. 2 points 5. 1 point BEST SONG: 1. 5 points 2. 4 points 3. 3 points 4. 2 points 5. 1 point BEST SOUND EDITING: 1. 5 points 2. 4 points 3. 3 points BEST SOUND: 1. 5 points 2. 4 points 3. 3 points 4. 2 points 5. 1 point BEST VISUAL EFFECTS: 1. 5 points 2. 4 points 3. 3 points BONUS QUESTIONS: 2. I think I know what system you mean. Do you mean the one when you have to rank the nominees in the likeliness of winning? |

Dr. Lecter wrote: I think I know what system you mean. Do you mean the one when you have to rank the nominees in the likeliness of winning? yep. It's far too easy to lose out on a pick the winner game if you're undecided between two choices. This way you can rank them and you get a better picture of the predicting "skills" |

Dr. Lecter wrote: You're very welcome. ![]() So...any suggestions for the bonus questions? How many acting winners will kiss their award presenter? OR How many acting winners will kiss the person sitting beside them after winning? How many nominees will clap for themselves when announced as a nominee? (I hate it when people clap for themselves) How many winners, out of all awards, will cry on stage after winning? How many wins will the film with the most wins win? (lol, that's weirdly worded. Maybe you can say it better.) Just a few I could think of that are kind of neat. PEACE, Mike ![]() |

Bonus questions: Will Chris Rock suck as a presenter? Of the four acting categories will there be more white or black winners? How many Oscars will be won by foreign movies NOT nominated for Best foreign language movie? Of the four acting categories and the directing category gow many winners will be first-time winners? Will anyone win two Oscars (categories: acting, directing and writing)? |

I love your bonus questions, except the only one that wouldn't work is the "Will Chris Rock suck as a presenter?", because it is completely subjective, and so no definite answer could be made for that. What about some ideas for tie-breakers? |

Dr. Lecter wrote: What about some ideas for tie-breakers? Last year I had the question how many people would accept the Best Picture award. I think that is a really neat tie-breaker. Another cool tie-breaker would be a question Mike did earlier in this thread: How many nominees will clap for themselves when announced as a nominee? If you reduce it to the 20 acting nominees, that would be a pretty cool tie-breaker... |

So, do we post our winner predictions in here Lecter? Ranked 1 to 5 in likelihood? Are we doing every category? How's it work? And, I know you'll obviously have a total score just for this game, but at the end, are you going to add the nominee prediction game scores with the winner prediction game scores and get an OVERALL super duper Oscar prediction score for everyone? hehe. That would be nice. PEACE, Mike ![]() |

Also, we'll have two equal winners then. ![]() As for the rules and everything, I'll post it all tonight in this thread, so no predicting yet. |
