I think it's too little, too late. Its Golden Globe nom is very reminiscent of Bobby last year, big names/Weinstein and all.

it looks like this COULD strike, but i'm not sure it's getting enough support. Outside the GG nom, it basically has nothing. It has as much as Bobby. Again, it COULD pick up a nom or two, one for Denzel at the least, but I doubt it. If Ebert put it at #1, that would be a different story.

It actually might, I could see another film getting snubbed and this one sneaking in being your typical academy style film.

I dont think it will show up, it hasnt been appearing in a lot of critics awards.

Just saw a screener of the film, it was a good film, i thought Forrest Whitaker was very good in it, i wouldnt be suprised if he got in as supporting actor, also, the kid who played his son was very good in it aswell.

I dont think its BP worthy but it is a good Oscar bait film, and the Oprah factor will show, i have no doubt she has more friends in Hollywood than anyone else.

I think he's in lead for both, but I could be mistaken. With the way that the Academy can write off lead roles as supporting ones though, he could manage two nominations, but I think he'll have to fight to get one. The lead actor category is full of talent this year and though I think Washington's performance in American Gangster is very good, the miss with the Screen Actors Guild works against him. The only way I see him having a chance for Great Debaters is if the movie's buzz really takes off in the next few weeks.

its RT score is now above Crash's, and at a Christmas party I attended tonight I heard a bunch of people say that they thought this film was absolutely amazing. I dunno how they all saw it so quickly, but yeah...this is getting a really strong response.
