Hmm, no Atonement even in the nomination stage, not good.

BP and BD have 3 matches, another boost for Michael Clayton.

Frank Langella again. Mortenson made first appearance.

Guess they, or at least most of the critics in the group, haven't seen Sweeney Todd.

Best Actress looks like a good potential Oscar lineup; supporting actor too.

Ryan and Blanchett are the two locks in supporting actress.

They really loved Michael Clayton.

And any time Tang Wei appears, I'm one happy camper.

And it just feels weird to see Jason Reitman getting nominated but not Juno. It's freaking Reitman! To have him along side of Coens, PTA, and Fincher...

Yeah I'm hoping a lot of this groups just haven't seen Sweeney Todd yet. Burton, Depp, and Carter have been pulling zilches.

Michael Clayton is probably getting a nom. Wowza. I'm pretty sure Ebert boosted it though, out of his many 4 star reviews Clayton got one of the most enthuiastic, and I wouldn't be surprised to see it high on his list.

Not good for Atonement and really really not good for American Gangster.

By the way, isn't it weird how Juno got a Best Director nomination but missed out on Picture? I don't know where the logic in that came from.

TWBB is getting closer and closer to a lock for a nom, and Atonement's old frontrunner position has more than faded away by now. Michael Clayton keeps chugging along, and I think the fifth spot would be between it and Juno...I do still think Juno'll get in for being the only comedy of the bunch.

The Kite Runner is still in this thing. Its reviews have climbed back up to fresh, and I could see it showing up at BFCA tomorrow, and maybe even GG. It's a film that may only need to be in the 70% range at RT and MC (currently 69).

Remember, Sweeney Todd & There Will Be Blood both have had the disadvantage of having not been seen by everyone yet, even if they have been available for screenings. I think all the awards handed out a week or so from now and on will be true everyone-has-seen-everything awards
