Another Clooney win... geez. Nothing against his work, he's somewhere between good and great in the movie, but it's a performance that's been done before and very low-key. Nevertheless, he's a lock for a nomination.

Another group that probably hasn't seen TWBB. Loyal might be onto something about TWBB and NCFOM being at odds with each other...

Pretty ho-hum wins, they actually match 6/8 with NBR's winners (Only S. Actor and Director don't, both of which go to NCFOM).

And yes, Ryan plays the mother of a missing child. Apparently she breaks the stereotypical playing of such roles though, hence the wins.

I don't really know anything about Gone Baby Gone. Is Amy's character a mother of a missing child? Is it that kind of performance?

Actually, I believe it is. :hahaha: I haven't seen it, but from the clips, it sounds like lots of crying and smashing things. Bait.

If Blood is beating No Country in the groups who's seen it, and No Country is picking up the others, does that mean Blood momentarily has the hammer?

If TWBB wins or NCFOM loses tomorrow, probably. We're still only dealing with critics here, mind you.

Yeah maybe I jumped to conclusions, I was just going off a clip I saw the other day of her doing the "I just want my daughter back I swear to god I won't do no drugs anymore, cross my heart, promise me" "yeah i promise ya" "PROMISE ME" sobbing bit.

Also, it's not listed in Jon's first post, but the Best Foreign Language Film winner is: The Diving Bell and the Butterfly.

Peace,
Mike

There's far more to Amy Ryan's performance than that.

Helene is kind of vile and despicable at times, but Ryan humanizes her and brings depth to her. Her performance is one of the reasons the superb ending works so well.

Heh. Well, however you manage to see it, I highly recommend it. It's my favorite movie of the year.

Let me know what you think if you watch it tomorrow!

AMY RYAN WINS AGAIN WOOO. Honestly her performance was simply outstanding and probably is one of the main reasons I still think about Gone Baby Gone even though I saw it a month ago. GBG is still easily my favorite film this year.

Also good to see some CWW love.
