Best New Filmmaker - Ben Affleck for Gone Baby Gone
Best Cinematography - Janusz Kaminski for The Diving Bell and the Butterfly
Good for both, especially Diving Bell.

Re: Beantown Society Of Film Critics
Cool for Affleck + Gilroy (Who was removed for whatever reason after they added Cinematography). Kinda dull so far, hopefully they're quick to announce awards.

Hm, 2/2 for Ryan now. Blanchett can't be pleased. These have a REALLY awesome track record for wins, in terms of coolness. Observe.

Actually, these guys are 4/11 in the last 10 years for S. Actress, so that might not be a good thing.

Re: Beantown Society Of Film Critics
I'm super psyched about Ratatouille's win. Anything to lead credence to it being a Best Picture nominee at the Oscars is great. I hope it keeps winning as much as it can everywhere.
Peace, Mike

And first of many wins for Cotillard. She is going to split the critic awards with Christie.

Re: Beantown Society Of Film Critics
Actor will be interesting. Five of their last six winners went on to win at the Oscars (Including Brody in '02), but after that they have a four year streak of actors that didn't even get noms (Plus Brian Cox for L.I.E. in 2001, who tied with Washington). And they have such a wide range of choices it might not matter to the winner's chances.

The only thing holding her back from being the frontrunner is small box office ($10.1 million), and that it's a foreign language film. If it were in English she might be unstoppable.

Re: Beantown Society Of Film Critics
Frank Langella! He is looking more and more likely for a nomination. He is actually No. 3 on my ranking now, more likely than Washington and all the other contenders except for the top 2.
