...will be a serious contender for Best Animation. It's a really fun, well animated flick. It will bee beetween it and Ratatouille. Common sense says Ratatouille will win, but don't underestimate the power of Seinfeld. I think it has a shot, I tremendously enjoyed it.

I hope Bee Movie loses just because its marketing has been utterly inescapable. It started as a "ok, it looks cute enough" reaction to a "wait a minute...this comes out in NOVEMBER. and it's April now!? wtf??" reaction.

Yep. This is just as overhyped and looks just as terrible as Happy Feet. Which means it'll probably win the Oscar.

The only thing about the marketing I haven't liked is the "Bee Movie tv shorts"... I saw one where Jerry was trying to make all these random out of nowhere jokes, stuff like "Oh look, I'm eating a cupcake", and it totally didn't work.

Otherwise, it looks fine.

I liked a lot of those ones. That one you mentioned I wasnt really fond of, but some of them have been very funny. (although nothing to do with the movie)

Nah, can't see it happening. Look like there is an embargo going on; still no review at RT 5 days from its release, never a good sign. I saw an ad in today's San Francisco Chronicles, and none of the quotes it used is from big-name critics. Not sure if it will even finish fresh.

EDIT: Variety and The Hollywood Reporter gave it mediocre reviews.

What I'm finding hilarious is that with just ONE word (the word "bee"), I was able to identify Patrick Warburton's voice.... That guy is seriously everywhere, and it's so funny that with the way he intones his speaking I can ID him immediately with just a single one-syllable word.

In other news, this movie looks interesting, but not enough to get me into the theater to see it. I'll probably wait 'til it comes out on DVD and have my dad order it on Netflix.

Joy

If you make a living by reviewing DVDs and movies it's surprisingly hard to get yourself motivated to go to the theatre just for fun. I wasn't slotted to do the Ratatouille review and although I really love to see it, I haven't gotten to it.

Not a chance.

If there was something out there that did have a chance of beating Ratatouille it would be Persepolis. IF.

They did? Well they better don't like Beowulf then or else I can't take them seriously when it comes to animated movies
