Man, all I can hope for is to have a scene with Catherine ZJ and Johnny Depp on-screen at the same time.... It'd be the hottest scene in Hollywood history, just to have the two of them on the screen simultaneously.

Plotline please, your link goes to the number 9.

I googled it and most of the links led to the musical adaptation of 8 1/2... I'm assuming that's not it, judging from the details of your post.

As much as I love the cast... why the fuck are they making a musical version of 8 1/2? I guess something went right in the translation to stage if it's been succesful, but the movie... the original was Fellini going nutso with style and nothing else, the film consists of a guy walking around and randomly fantasizing for 3 hours for gods sake.

That's pretty much the musical as well... Antonio Banderas (in the revival) surrounded by hot, hot ladies in different stages of undress.

Hmm Kidman could be intesting, but she's been box office poison since...well for a long time. She was good in Moulin Rouge though but I think that may have be like catching lightning in a bottle (aka a second musical for her would be no good).

Renee Zellweger was the worst part about Chicago, so if she doesn't sign on I'll be elated.

that's simply far too large and famous a cast to have any chance at winning Best Picture. No BP winner has ever been even close to that star-studded.

Ah geesh, I'm blushing.

What brings you to this neck of the woods, Tod?

Also, Marshall--or any musical for that matter--is not winning. For a moment there, there was a musical genre revival. Now that it is firmly reestablished, you won't likely see any musicals even as noms, and definately not as wins. They're considered too light-weight for the most part, even if the directing, production quality, acting, etc., are all very good. It was only a spell of maybe five years when the genre was being resurrected that the Oscars responded warmly. Its over now.

Bardem out of the project

All these sure-bets in the last few years turn out not to be. The Academy's tastes are changing, and the movie will almost certainly end up being fairly mediocre compared to the real cream of 2008.

This is slated for 2009, though, isn't it? If it isn't already, I wouldn't be surprised to see a move considering their lead just dropped out of the project.

What does Anthony Minghella have to do with this? He's dead.

Who could they cast in the film?

The two that come to my mind that could rock that crazed, tattered style are Aida Turturro and Faith Prince. Or maybe Kathy Najimy, heh.

She has the body type and definitely can bring the funny. :D

Lainie Kazan would have been great if only she was a bit younger and less hefty.

Kathy Bates? Although I'm not sure I could buy her playing someone who used to be a prostitute.

How about Susan Sarandon? I mean, she's not really "full figured," but I'm pretty sure she can do "earthy" and "funny." Plus she's completely awesome and an Oscar winner.

YOu know what... I'm loving the Susan Sarandon idea!
