Well, Pirates 2 has won six out of the nine big-screen categories at the Visual Effects Society Awards. It wasn't eligible for one (the animated character in an animated movie category, which went to Mater in Cars), Casino Royale beat it out in the Special Effects category, and Flags of Our Fathers won for Supporting Visual Effects.

But Pirates walked away with the awards for:

Outstanding Visual Effects in a Visual Effects Driven Motion Picture
Best Single Visual Effect of the Year (for Davy Jones)
Outstanding Animated Character in a Live Action Motion Picture (for Davy Jones)
Outstanding Created Environment in a Live Action Motion Picture
Outstanding Models and Miniatures in a Motion Picture
Outstanding Compositing in a Motion Picture

I think that definitely bodes well for the Oscars...
