Heh, I'm seriously bored, I think. But looking back at last year, I must be even more so then, as like half of the replies are mine. We haven't had a real DGA surprise since Nolan in 2001. The directors have really played safe in recent years and given us uninspiring choices such as Marc Forster, Taylor Hackford, and Bennett Miller. I'm so hoping they're going to break the mold this year when there are so many outstanding choices. About 15 more hours... |

Here's hoping Cuaron gets in, and Babel finally shows some sign of weakness. I'm predicting Greengrass, Scorsese, Clint (god I hope not twice), a surprise (maybe Del Toro if not Cuaron), and either Condon or Frears... But not both. At least I really hope it's a surprise rather then both of them. |

I mean, this is what it all comes down to. I'm hoping there will be a surprise, otherwise DGA will just be another "meh". Peace, Mike. |

I think there are four pretty set nominees: Scorsese, Eastwood, Frears, Inarritu. The fifth slot is going to be interesting. Condon will probably get it but I'd love to see Cuaron surprise. Greengrass is still a possibility but my mind doesn't want to wonder there so it blocks the possibility out ![]() del Toro is the real underdog and considering the intense word of mouth Pan's Labyrinth has received lately, I wouldn't put it past the DGA but I'd be really shocked if he got in. |
