Another hit for United 93. It leads all films in Best Picture wins at critics awards thus far, and Greengrass is 2nd in Best Director wins, only behind Martin Scorcese. Peace, Mike. |

United 93 is gaining some serious traction, no? I never expected it to hit so many awards, especially after the lukewarm WOM it seemed to get. Dissapointed to not see Jennifer Hudson as supporting actress, has For Your Consideration gotten any other awards before this? |

Here's an interesting stat that I found over at Oscarwatch. Only 7 Kansas City Film Critics Circle BEST PICTURE winners missed an Oscar Best Picture nomination since they've been giving out awards. Four of the seven that missed Best Picture at least got an Oscar Best Director nomination, and also two of the Best Picture winners that missed the Oscars won in a tie with a movie that did get nominated for Oscar Best Picture. And this organization has been giving out awards for 41 years (it's one of the oldest critics groups) so that's a pretty good stat considering. Interesting. Peace, Mike. |

And the BP nomination is indeed no given. Not because of the Critics Awards, but because the general momentum shifts towards Babel and U93. At this point only Departed and The Queen are locks for BP. Dreamgirls has to battle for the last three spots with Babel, U93 and Letters. |
