Hrm My biggest question: Will anyone win a Best Actress award this season other than Helen Mirren? Stay tuned Go Jennifer Hudson and Catherine O'Hara. For Your Consideration was just OK, but O'Hara was superb. She's so underappreciated, I would love to see her get nominated. Especially considering the movie's subject matter, hah |

Pan's Labyrinth won another one; definitely a three-way race in foreign film. Babel and Little Miss Sunshine show up again in the top 10 list, while The Departed and Dreamgrils are snubbed. First appearance by Little Children. |

I'm surprised by the complete lack of Children of Men in ANY of these Top 10 lists. |

Has the Departed shutout something to do with the Boston - New York rivalry? |

Some goofy small group will throw Cruz a bone. Mark my words. But other than that, Mirren can not be stopped. Despite the craziness in that other thread. |

But Hoffman didn't win the Actress last year, so does that mean Streep still has a shot, particularly if she wins SAG over Mirren? |

The Queen sweeps up a few more accolades, they'll be a decent concolation prize for it since it'll be this years GNGL/Capote at the oscars padding out the big awards catagories. |

But Hoffman didn't win the Actress last year, so does that mean Streep still has a shot, particularly if she wins SAG over Mirren? I mean Hoffman for Capote, not Huffman for Transamerica. Witherspoon won the majority of critic awards for Best Actress. I was basically saying Mirren's train is pretty much as unstoppable as Hoffman in Capote, if not more so since Ledger was consistently the runner-up in Best Actor award last year while the runner-up position in Best Actress this year is getting divided among a few actresses so far. When Sissy Spacek lost in 2001 after dominating the precursors, at least Berry already emerged as a strong opposition early on as she won NBR. There is really no suspense this time. |
