The Hollywood Film awards come too soon. Last year, for instance, it was all about Mrs. Henderson Presents. Although Paul Haggis took director (that was somewhat telling, non? Even though Ang Lee went on to win the Oscar for directing, Crash won BP). Other than that, last year's awards were not very indicative of how the Oscar race would go. The year before fared a tiny bit better but here is a great example of how the last part of the year really shapes the race in terms of what gets decided for the Oscars. So don't listen to people who claim they already know who's winning what.
