Can Abigail Breslin Secure A Supporting Actress Nom?

Post Can Abigail Breslin Secure A Supporting Actress Nom?
After watching Little Miss Sunshine a second time tonight, I realized how powerful her range was throughout the film. Of course, she's the center of the film and its emotional core. But she takes risks with her character and doesn't just play "cute".

I would love to see her work honoured with a nomination.

I would love that, she was absolutely fantastic. She completely avoided the "insufferably cute" angle that often leads to annoying child performances.

I guess I'll let you know tomorrow, but honestly, I'm so far out of the loop on the upcoming awards season that I'll never be able to catch up.

The next Tatum O'Neil?

It's odd. Between Abigail, Dakota, and fingers crossed, Keke, we might see a mini movement this year. With the surprising amount of minorities nominated recently, I would enjoy some age diversity as well. If you can act, it shouldn't matter if you're ten.

I'm gonna say hell no, sorry to burst the bubble.

If she was going to, she'd need to be getting non-stop praises right now, for an unknown child star to get nominated from an early year movie? Her name won't be near the voters minds, hell a doubt many of them will even know it. If it was Fanning with these performance, fine. But not Abigail, maybe in her next couple movies.

She's not completely unknown, though I understand your point. Sixth Sense also had a summer release date and Haley managed a nom. Granted the film took in a jabillon dollars and was an event onto itself. But LMS has its own movement of sorts.

I so hope so.

The ice cream diner scene and motel room grandfather scene were both extremely great scenes with an amazing performance.
And of course, there is the dance.

Yes, she'd be the youngest to ever win a competitive Oscar, barely beating out Tatum O'Neal by mere days. Tatum was 10 years, 148 days, and Abigail will be 10 on September 16th, so by the time the Oscars arrive, she would be a bit younger. ( I think...lol)

Shirley Temple was the youngest winner of an Oscar, though, as she was presented a juvenile Academy Award when she was 6 years old, but that wasn't a competitive one.
I think Abigail is totally deserving. I just wanted to hug her and protect her. Such a cute little girl, and she had some memorable scenes that showed much range as an actress.

oops...scratch that. I just counted the days, and Abigail would be 10 years, 162 days, so Tatum would still be the youngest.
