The buzz seems to indicate they will go with either Million Dollar Baby or Sideways. |

I think it will be between The Aviator and Million Dollar Baby. They both seem like 'L.A.' kind of films. |

I'd predict Sideways without hestitation if it's not for the fact that Payne just won for About Schmidt two years ago, so I think they will probably go with Million Dollar Baby. |

Hmm...I'm thinking either Sideways or MDB, but could The Aviator slip in? |

If Sideways gets it, then it stands a great chance of getting the BP nom. |

Great news for Sideways. Since Sideways is sweeping the awards, no other films really got much help, so if we pay more attention to the runner-ups, I say Morgan Freeman is locked up for a best supporint actor nomination and probably a win since he is so over due. Also House of Flying Daggers continues to do well in the technical categories. Collateral should get a nod in Cinematography. |

As for Morgan Freeman, well, I think that if he wins, Jamie Foxx won't. I just doubt that we're going to have 2002 again with two African-American winners. |

Wow, three at the same time. ![]() Very happy for Julie Delpy. Just saw Before Sunset, and she deserves any accolade she receives. Imelda Staunton is back to be a lock for nomination after getting ignored early on. A little bit attention is all she needs. |

Conclusions after these awards: 1. Sideways joins Finding Neverland and The Aviator as the third almost-lock for a Best Picture nomination 2. After these awards and the NBR, it is safe to say that House of Flying Daggers is a lock for a Best Foreign Picture nomination and some technical nominations 3. Julie Delpy will most likely be this year's surprise nominee in the Best Actress category, just like last year's Keisha Castle-Hughes. Either she or the girl from Maria Full of Grace. I am almost certain that one of them will be recognzied. 4. Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind is DEAD for Best Picture/Director. Simply dead. 5. The Best Actor race looks to be the most interesting one this year with Foxx, Neeson, Bardem and possibly Eastwood duking it out. 6. Imelda Staunton is a lock for a nomination in Vera Drake. |

I think every other film is fighting to that No. 5 spot, and that list is shrinking by the days. Eternal Sunshine, Spanglish, and Kinsey are all dead. Closer will continue to fade from public attention given the box office drop this week and is pretty much done as well. It's basically down to Ray(fading as well), The Phantom of the Opera, Collateral, and maybe Hotel Rwanda if it gets attention from Golden Globe. Dr. Lecter wrote: 5. Literally anybody can win this category. |

Literally anybody can win this category. Don't forget Depp for Best Actor. If Finding Neverland gets many noms, I am sure, he'll be among them. However, I think that if Eastwoods gets a nom, he'll win just because the Academy will realize that this is probably his last chance to do so. I don't want to imply that he is not good in MDB, but just state that he'll probably win either way, even if the competitors are better. I am a bit hesitant yet to put Million Dollar Baby as a lock, I'll wait for some more reviews. But let's say, it's a lock, the out of the remaining movies, Hotel Rwanda is probably the most likely to get a nom considering the content of the film. |

Okay, I just went to RT and reconsidered my position. Million Dollar Baby is pretty much a lock. I stilll don't think it'll win, though. It looks like Scorcese's year. |
