It's all Christian Bale this year. Nomination is a lock already. . Rescue Dawn . Harsh Times . The Prestiege All three will be coming out around September-November most likely, everyone will have Bale on the mind. he will be nominated for best supporting in Prestiege and best actor for one of the other two. He's coming out of this with a trophy, atleast he better or else ![]() |

I'd like to see it happen. He was great in American Psycho and The Machinist. |

Rescue Dawn A US Fighter pilot's epic struggle of survival after being shot down on a mission over Laos during the Vietnam War. Harsh Times A tough-minded drama about two friends in South Central Los Angeles and the violence that comes between them. The Prestige Based on Christopher Priest's 1996 novel, Bale and Jackman play rival magicians in turn-of-the-century London who battle each other for trade secrets. The rivalry is so intense that it turns them into murderers. maybe for the Prestige he'll get a nom. |

He deserves at least a nomination, something he should have got for American Psycho or The Machinist. Harsh Times looks Training Day-esque (could be good for him), Rescue Dawn sounds like Behind Enemy Lines (not good), and The Prestige looks to be awesome, but not mainstream enough to get a nod. I'd say his best bet is for Harsh Times. |

Okay so an oscar worthy performance in October ( Prestige ) now Harsh Times has a release in November, so an oscar worthy performance in November, all thats left is for Rescue Dawn to come out in December and Bale will have an oscar worthy performance each month in the last three months of the year. One of these movies REALLY needs to breakout and get some nice press and great reviews other then just Bales performance so he can finally get that damn nomination he deserves. |

Well looks like Harsh Times hasnt been getting much rave except for the acting and one of the films NEEDS to get praise other then Bale to get him that nod I would say, or atleat breakout at the BO a bit. Prestige to me seems like his best bet at this point. |

Although this film should do better as the title is much cooler and it looks like it'll attract some Latino audiences (a surprisingly strong box office force at times). Either way, the reviews and the trailer (Wow) really show that Bale aces the role. I think right now his best case scenario is for The Prestige to be as big and more importantly good as it can possibly be, especially with him being the scene stealer (shouldn't be a problem, juding by how the trailer makes Jackman out more as the confused protagonist). From there, if Harsh Times and Rescue Dawn both get more raves for Bale, I think that he could get enough hype for a Best Supporting Actor nomination for The Prestige - and maybe, just maybe, even a win. |

Supporting seems like a bitch of a category this year, I mean you already most likely have Jack Nicholson, Brad Pitt, and maybe even Eddie Murphy. Supporting might end up having bigger names then Best. |

I could see him winning over those other three - though once again, he'll have to steal the show with The Prestige, and The Prestige will have to make 60-70 + million and be a big hit with critics and audiences as well. Not impossible (especially with Nolan directing it) but it's a lot to ask. Either way, if he doesn't get a nomination this year, I think he will in the next two years for sure. |

I dont think it's hard for Bale to chew up all the scenery in this film, especially watching the trailer and how eccentric his character seems. 60m-70m seems quite possible and I do see it around 85% at RT, the trailer alone is better then some movies i've seen this year. |

Michael Caine seems to be the stand out in Children of Men, so yeah, there's nothing to say any of what I've listed isn't possible. If it gets to 80-100 million, all of a sudden BP/BD aren't out of the question, and if so Bale's chances will go up dramatically. |

Jack Nicholson Brad Pitt Eddie Murphy Christian Bale Michael Caine if it ends up being something like that, when was the last time we got a supporting category that insane? It means something when you win in a group such as this. |

His performance in Werner Herzog's P.O.W. drama Rescue Dawn sounds incredible, but the movie's quiet Oscar-qualifying run and troubled road to theatres could damage his chances severely. |
