Good enough reason to ignore them.

To those hesitant to vote for Amadeus:
The characters speak (mostly) American English. No grand accents or anything.

On the other hand:
Amadeus' laugh? Will make you want to stop watching the movie the *first* time you hear it. By the time it's gotten to the 50th or so time, you may be in physical pain.
It is an excellent movie, though.

Yeah... that was pretty grating at first.
Then one of the characters (I believe it was Salieri) mentioned that Mozart's laugh was annoying, that was kind of cool.

HAHA Yeah! There was one scene where Mozart burst out laughing at Salieri's face, F. Murray Abraham's reaction was priceless!

Well, we have our five suggestions. Lennier had all rights to change his own suggestion, so we have now:
lennier: The Apartment
haerpinot: West Side Story
Atoddr: Lawrence of Arabia
Zingaling: In the Heat of the Night
jmart007: Ben-Hur
Those were the first five. Sorry for the rest, but next time you certainly will get your chance to make your nom!
I'll set up a poll now that will run until Sunday midnight.
PLEASE ONLY VOTE IN THE POLL IF YOU ARE A MEMBER OF THE CLUB OR PLAN JOINING IT!!!
Also, to make things clearer, I'd ask the members of the club not just to vote in the poll, but also state their pick in this thread.

My vote goes to Lawrence of Arabia, by the way.

The Apartment gets my vote as i've seen the other 4 at one time or another, so this will be a good chance to catch it

The Apartment is an amazing movie, in my Top 20. Of course, so is Lawrence of Arabia....decisions, decisions.
I've never actually met a person who's watched The Apartment and didn't like it. It's so smooth and enjoyable and effective that the cynic in me wants to think that it sucks. But it really, really doesn't.

Out of those I've only seen West Side Story. I'm interested in all of them especially Apartment and Lawrence. Hard.

The major caveat to Lawrence, in regards to this club, is that it's about 3 and a half hours long. I'd be afraid that a lot of members wouldn't be able to watch it anytime soon.

Hm... I actually got a (full screen...) copy of West Side Story for my birthday so I don't really want to pick that. And I've been wanting to see Lawrence of Arabia but I probably won't time to watch it.
I would have voted for Amadeus if it was in the poll, but I'll go with The Apartment I suppose...

You won't regret it, publicenemy!
I am so genuinely excited at the possibility of The Apartment winning. I'm dying to know what everyone thinks; it's been a favorite of mine, for a long time, so I just hope I don't hog the (potential) Apartment thread.
I also hope I don't jinx it!

I voted for Ben-Hur. I wouldn't mind if The Apartment won though.

I voted for In the Heat of The Night, though it looks like it doesn't matter as it's an Apartment runaway.
