Re: Best Actor 2013 I thought Bale was fantastic in American Hustle, but I'd give a slight edge to McConaughey as my BA choice. He performed as a guy you really didn't like and made him redeeming at the end despite his personal flaws.

Re: Best Actor 2013 I am sadly resolving myself to the fact Redford will miss here.  The film is just too small compared to American Hustle and The Wolf of Wall Street. There are precedents (Julie Christie's nomination for Away from Her, Peter O'Toole's nomination for Venus), but I don't know. In fact, I am considering predicting Bale for the fifth slot simply because there is so much momentum for American Hustle. He's not even up for the SAG apparently. Now, I don't think his chances are that good then. It's probably McConaughey's.
