Not really related to its eventual Oscar success, but the film opened to $3.2 million in the UK, 2nd for the weekend to Simon Pegg's Run, Fat Boy, Run, and also lower than the P&P opening ($4.6 million), though that was rated PG there while Atonement was 15, so it shouldn't be too worrying yet.

Yeah it wasn't heaving at the screening I was at, around 30% full. (UK and Ireland are included as one box office figure)
