 Re: Oscars Odds 2021
PGA usually gets it right, but there have been upsets before like Parasite.
Nomadland is currently -305 (you win about a third of your bet) Chicago 7 - +800 (8-1) Promising Young Woman - +1100 (11-1) Minari - +1400 Mank - +2000 Judas - +2500 The Father - +8000
I don’t see anything for Sound of Metal.

I hope that is not the case with Oscars. That list is depressing.

 Re: Oscars Odds 2021
If Trial of the Chicago 7 wins then I’m gonna have to make some apologies to Moonlight and Birdman. I’d rather not do that. Nomadland may be not be the hero we want, but it just might be the hero we need.
Viola over Carrey is concerning, but they were obviously going for all non-white winners and that is fine for a precursor award.

The Father winning adapted screenplay is a small upset. Academy does love to spread awards around these days though.

 Re: Oscars Odds 2021
This ceremony is so woke that every winner is making a political speech. I’m now concerned about Carey and my $40. Having a picture with all non-white acting winners might be too tempting for the academy to resist.

Soul's win for best animated feature is a complete shocker.

I just feel they would not give a big award to a movie with pretty all-white actors.

I am surprised by this as well but maybe this was a conscious decision to keep things interesting given that the ceremony is online and they "think" things might be boring. I am not watching the ceremony BTW only checking on the winner's updates. How is it so far?

No one in the audience is wearing masks.
Its moving along at a good pace though. Brad Pitt is out now for Supporting Actress.

They've all been vaccinated or tested. They should be fine.

That's a terrible haircut, but her dress makes up for it.

I also like how the camera moves around the room when the nominees are being revealed.

Mank wins its first award of the night (hopefully the last). Looks like Netflix is having a good night again.

Mank pulls an upset Cinematography win over Nomadland. Nomadland is looking weak to win BP at this point.

Sound of Metal wins editing; another hit for Nomadland; though recently Academy has gone for different films in terms of Editing and BP.

 Re: Oscars Odds 2021
Would two wins be the lowest for a best picture winner? I know several have done it with three.
