What's with the Social Network's critical reaction? It's a solid Oscar movie but no better than like Slumdog Millionaire,

lol

You seem to think threatening violence against people is perfectly okay because you feel offended by their words, so that's kind of telling in itself.

Exactly. If they don't know how to behave, and feel OK offending others, they get their ass kicked, so they'll think next time before opening their rotten mouths.

The Social Network is a very good, quite compelling legal drama with strong acting and a fantastic score, but I'm so tired of hearing how it's DEFINING THIS GENERATION IN A WAY NO OTHER FILM CAN EVER DREAM OF. I just didn't connect with it in that way. At all.

yes.

it's refreshing to see someone that actually even really liked the thing say this. i feel like people are saying these sorts of ridiculous, hyperbolic things simply because it's a movie involving facebook, not because it actually makes any sort of compelling statement on our society or "generation" (it doesn't).

I disagree, except not really. it touches on critique of our generation/society but not to an hyperbolic degree that you are attacking. I agree it is being blown far out of proportion, yet I still like it far more than most movies this year for quite excellent (imo) craft.

makeshift really isn't being condescending with his statements. Look, I really like TSN (I have it in my top 5) and even I think the whole 'generation' movie shit is complete crap.

The film works for me because of many reasons, none of which being that it's a sort of cultural-zeigest film.

I guess I shouldn't have bothered with the previous statement, magnus already made it for me.

Also, how the fuck is makeshift being condescending at all other than he hasn't added (IMO!!!! ZOMGGG) after his statements?
