First off, bite my left nut kid.. Second, if the movie went wide over the weekend and is considered to be so damn good, how come it couldn't beat out a low budget horror movie like Hide and Seek??? And uh, yeah I am 38. not 10 you clown and maybe if you sat back and actually digested what I said, you might find some fucking truth in what I said since it is true slick..

LOL you're so ignorant, who can take a supposedly 38 year old childish man who thinks Paul Anderson is a god serious? Anyways, when all is said and done MDB will gross more then Hide and Seek. MDB isnt a mainstream movie and these type of movies live on WOM, and it's wom will be quite impressive, it already is. Also lets not forget MDB is in 2,000 theaters while Hide & Seek is in 3,000

I never said that Paul W.S Anderson was a God.. I do think however that he's not near as bad as dumbass internet follow the leader fanboys think he is when it comes to their typical knee jerk reactions over him.. Like the Guy or not, he DOES produce a profit for the studios with his movies more than this Director you all despise known as Uwe Boll ever will it seems.. However, back on to the topic at hand, I agree with Chris Rock that maybe it's time for the BEST PICTURE Contender to be the more popular movie that the moviegoing public embraces more than what the Academy or Critics feel it should be.. Critics and members of the Academy are out of touch I'm afraid with what the public really likes.. It's true..

Why do you suppose they gave ROTK (and it doesn't get much more popular than that with movie goers) an 11 Oscar sweep just last year?

I think under the circumstances though, the Academy felt compelled to give it to ROTK because if they hadn't of, they would never of heard the end of it and there would've been a tremendous backlash as a result.. I certainly don't think ROTK deserved BEST PICTURE and instead thought Lost In Translation deserved it more.. Not only did that movie get the shaft, but so did the Great Bill Murray who I'm surprised didn't hang himself over that clusterfuck of a snub..

Ironically, your choice was the Best Picture nomination that nobody went to see.
The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King $377,027,325
Seabiscuit $120,277,854
Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World $93,927,920
Mystic River $90,135,191
Lost In Translation $44,585,453
If it followed the logic of awarding the most popular movies like you think it should, it would have looked like this.
Return of the King
Finding Nemo
Pirates of the Carribean
Matrix:Reloaded (*gulp* #-o )
Bruce Almighty
Something tells me you would have preferred Lost in Translation to be nominated over Matrix Reloaded.

Absolutely... Lost in Translation got shafted HARD over that... And I approve of the list you've listed minus Reloaded being in there cause it was a Godawful movie that should've never been considered.. Also, when I say that the more popular movies should've been nominated and considered for BEST PICTURE, I'm talking about movies that grossed over 200 Million to Qualify for that.. Anything under that figure shouldn't be considered... I just feel that a movie or movies that make over 200 Million like Shrek II or Spiderman II should be taken into consideration cause that speaks volumes when films can gross that high through massive repeat viewings indicating that the general moviegoer would consider them the BEST..

I always like to see small time non-mainstream movies get best picture nominations because alot of people that usually wouldnt see these type of movies go see them, every movie thats nominated for best picture seems to be getting very good wom and Aviator will probably pass 100mil while MDB could do Mystic River #'s or even higher, so eventually they're gonna become pretty damn popular. Nobody is out of touch with the public, its just that these are quality flicks that have more to offer then Supremacy and Spider-Man 2. Supremacy and Spider-Man 2 are good movies, for what they are action popcorn flicks, they're not ment to be best picture contenders.
