Best Picture: "There Will Be Blood"
Runner-up: "The Diving Bell and the Butterfly"

Director: Paul Thomas Anderson, "There Will Be Blood"
Runner-up: Julian Schnabel, "The Diving Bell and the Butterfly"

Actress: Marion Cotillard, "La Vie En Rose"
Runner-up:

Actor: Daniel Day-Lewis, "There Will Be Blood"
Runner-up:

Screenplay: Tamara Jenkins, "The Savages"

Here comes There Will Be Blood, and Cotillard won two in one day. And Supporting Actor is more diverse than I expected. And The Diving Bell got major boost after today.

Foreign language film: "4 MOnths, 3 Weeks and 2 Days"
Runner-up: "The Diving Bell and the Butterfly

The Diving Bell and the Butterfly received runner-up in both Best Foreign film and Best Picture, which seems weird and is a shame.

Peace,
Mike

Well, just as I expected for BP. Now, NCFOM will probably win New York. IF (and that's a big IF) There Will Be Blood wins in New York as well, it'll give NCFOM a run for its money.

Depp has yet to appear on a list...

Also a big day for Langella, a runner-up here.

TWBB is back in the race in a very big way. Four wins, three runner-ups.

And no Sweeney Todd at all...*Looks @ Loyal* :P

The Best Foreign Picture Oscar will also be very interesting to follow this year.

Langella has a great chance at the veteran spot this year. I wonder who he'll steal it from. At this point, chances to be nominated are getting slimmer and slimmer for James McAvoy with Day-Lewis, Langella, Depp, Clooney, Washington and probably Mortensen all ahead of him, I'd say.

I just realized No Country for Old Men got nada from LAFCA, no wins or runner-ups. Wasn't expecting that.

I'd say Washington's in trouble. AG is getting rejected everywhere, and I don't think his reaction was ever as "omg" as it was expected to be. Personally as even the biggest AG supporter here, I thought Crowe was probably better.

Kind of reminds me of Nicholson's situation actually.

poor France. Diving Bell and Persepolis are probably the two most-raved foreign-language films of this year, yet they had to exclude one of them [Diving Bell] for Oscar contention. I wonder if Diving Bell will pick up an Adapted Screenplay nom or something...it's doing FANTASTICALLY at these early awards.

Remember City of God? I think Diving Bell is in a very similar situation.
