I think it can do better than Nine

Maury Yeston who wrote the original lyrics and music for Nine, wrote 3 new songs for the film. And Cruz, Cotillard and Dench's characters were all nominated for Tonys, along with DDL's character. Then there's Nicole Kidman. Oh, and Sophia Loren.

I'd imagine there will be some shuffling to try to push one of the supporting actresses into lead, especially when it comes time for the Golden Globes. Cruz probably stands the best chance, she'll hopefully win an Oscar for Vicky Christina Barcelona and has a juicy role in Pedro Almodóvar's film. Note, Tom Jones is the only film in AMPAS history to have 3 nominations in BSA.

So at most, that's 4 acting noms. But subtract one for practicality.

A trailer should be coming along. Anyone who's seen the musicial knows the music isn't as user friendly as Chicago's but it's pretty powerful nevertheless.

Imagine if Fergie is the one that gets nominated... kind of like Latifah's nomination (pop/music star nomination).
