The thing that strikes me most is how Babel wasn't close to winning any category. It was 7th in voting in the Best Picture category.
Peace,
Mike.

Thanks, Mike!
My feeling:
Best Picture - surprised to see The Departed won by that big a margin. Look like there is no strong camp/passion behind any of the others, especially LMS and Babel, but this is the critics group, so I guess it's understandable.
Best Actor - Whitaker won big, and Dicaprio did split himself.
Best Actress - Expected, but still WOW.
Best Supporting Actor - can't believe Hounsou came in second and this close to winning. That would have been something.
Best Supporting Actress - I expect Blanchett to maintain her runner-up status, as people can't decide which Babel girl is more deserving.
Best Director - maybe a good omen that Greengrass beats out Eastwood? Could the same thing happen for the final director spot at Oscar?
Best Writer - Expected close race between the top 3, but surprised that Babel couldn't even get more votes than Stranger Than Fiction.
Best Documentary Feature - yeah, An Inconvenient Truth has it in the bag all the way.
Best Foreign Language Film - Pan's Labyrinth is looking strong.

Thanks Mike.
Just on Babel - the only one I think it should have a shot at is Rinko for Best Supporting Actress. I have no idea how Adriana Barazza's performance is considered even in the same league.

Pretty good for Leo considering the split vote.
If he was put in supporting for Departed and Jack as a no-chance for win lead, Dicaprio would probably be the easy frontrunner right now for the award. Despite angrying us, going with that probably would've been a smarter decision... it would give Departed a landslide acting award.

That train of thought made Jamie Foxx get the still contested Best Supporting Actor nomination for Collateral... And probably was a sizable factor in him winning Best Actor.

From Oscarwatch:
The post that was up today was taken down because the Critics Choice (Broadcast Film Critics) have decided against publicly releasing their vote counts. They don't feel it's the right thing to do and could cause more harm than good. You can probably still find them if you're industrious enough but that was our decision. And as Shirley MacLaine says in Terms of Endearment, "We'll just leave it at that."
And yet the BFCA released this year's tallies, and have all previous years tallies up on their site. I don't get it.
I guess we won't be seeing vote tallies anymore from the BFCA, apparently...
Peace,
Mike.

This past couple of years, they didn't officially advertise the link from other parts of the website but still added the new page. Hope they're still going to do the same in the future.
