The Guild Awards are basically different organizations that award the different artistic elements of films. They can be, apart from the Globes I suppose, the best projectors for what will happen at the Oscars, and can also sometimes put some races in further disarray and nobody knows what will happen at the Oscars. I think I remember someone saying in previous years that some Academy members actually vote in these? Anyways, I think that's why they're great to look at. Experts, like xiayun, can feel free to correct any false statements of mine, heh.
These are all of the major artistic guilds of which I can remember. Am I missing any? I'm trying to prepare myself for the guilds to come.
DGA -- Directors Guild of America
PGA -- Producers Guild of America
SAG -- Screen Actors Guild
WGA -- Writers Guild of America
ASC -- American Society of Cinematographers
ACE -- American Cinema Editors
ADG -- Art Directors Guild
Does anybody know when the dates for noms and winner are for all of these? I remember I used to have the perfect site that kept track of all of the guilds and you could browse dates, and then noms and winners as they come in. I remember the DGA and PGA used to be the last couple to come in. But I did not save the link, and have lost it.
Meh.
So, if anybody is an expert on this, please, educate us! Also, feel free to use this thread for discussion.
PEACE, Mike
