Re: Best Supporting Actress: who SHOULD win? Having seen all five, I'm surprised this hasn't been a more open race. Arquette gives a great performance no doubt, but I don't think she should have been the frontrunner from the very start. She's not on par, to me, with other frontrunners Julianne Moore and JK Simmons. Maybe it's because I'm not sure of the other four who could have challenged her. Emma Stone is great, but it may be too soon to give her an Oscar. Laura Dern is fine but underused in Wild. Keira Knightley is suitable but it's not an award-worthy performance. And Meryl is a little too scenery-chewing in Into the Woods for it to win the Oscar.
