Natalie Portman.
I thought Wallis was great in Beasts, and I don't think it's something any child actor could have accomplished. There's so much intensity in that performance that it's not just something a director could have coaxed out of anyone. That said, I'd still vote for Lawrence and Chastain over her in this year's lineup.
It still seems wrong that Meryl Streep won her first Oscar in 29 years for The Iron Lady. She did her best with the performance, but the movie was just bad, bad, bad. I'd like to imagine that her Oscar also has the names of all her other nominated performances since Sophie's Choice on it, the same way I'd like to imagine that Al Pacino's Oscar has more than Scent of a Woman listed.
