 Re: Gotham nominations
Nice nominations. In terms of the Oscars, it's a strong start for The Descendants, Martha, Marcy, May, Marlene, and The Tree of Life. And it's also nice to see Meek's Cutoff, Take Shelter, and the wonderful Beginners recognized. I have a feeling Meek's will be this year's "absolutely no chance at the Oscars, but shows up in a lot of regional critics awards" movie, along with maybe Certified Copy. One major complaint: a glaring omission is the gorgeous and supremely talented Brit Marling (Another Earth) in Breakthrough Actor. One of my favorite performances of the year.

Yeah, good to see Meek's Cutoff getting some recognition.

Nice nominations. Wish the Oscars resembled these more closely.

 Re: Gotham nominations
Winners: Best Feature: TIE: The Tree of Life, directed by Terrence Malick and Beginners, directed by Mike Mills
Best Documentary: Better This World, directed by Kelly Duane and Katie Galloway
Best Ensemble Performance: Beginners
Breakthrough Director: Dee Rees, Pariah
Breakthrough Actor: Felicity Jones, Like Crazy
Best Film Not Playing at a Theater Near You: Scenes of a Crime, directed by Blue Hadaegh & Grover Babcock
Audience Choice Award: Girlfriend, directed by Justin Lerner--- Wow, nice showing for Beginners. Surprising and cool it tied with The Tree of Life. Also, VERY pleased to see Felicity Jones won. She's so wonderful in Like Crazy. She is no. 1 on my personal Best Actress ballot at the moment, closely followed by Kirsten Dunst in Melancholia. (Jones' win, however, is not good news for Elizabeth Olsen, who is seriously losing steam this season.)
