Such colorful characters. David O. Russell's a genius. His movies (their characters, their dialogue) always feel so alive, so human, so messy yet meticulous.

Yes, comical. The whole film is actually a parody on stupid boxing films.

Nah.

The movie has humor because life has humor, and The Fighter is very keyed into the messiness and electricity of American life. But it's also definitely a solid, engaging sports movie. I don't think Russell is trying to spoof anything.
