Invictus will not get a Best Picture nomination club
I'm not seeing it, especially with the new 1-10 ranking rule change which benefits passion films. Invictus might get some 7-10 votes but I can't see anyone truly caring about this film. I haven't seen the film yet but every indication is it's boring and by the numbers and it's OK at best critically. It's box-office is also junk.
Sorry Clint, no automatic nod just because you're Clint. We saw that fail your last couple films

Everything you said is true, but it's going to get nominated anyway--this is what the ten nominee nonsense has brought us to.

I don't think it will get in. It's possible, but I doubt it.

Re: Invictus will not get a Best Picture nomination club
having seen it, I could not imagine this movie in a million years winning Best Picture... but it's also hard to imagine that given the story and people involved, it would have any chance of missing out on a nomination. I think it's pretty safely in, but I'm now doubting that Eastwood will get that Director nomination; he didn't have a lot of work to do with this one

I think it probably would have squeezed in even with five nominees.

It's in. Eastwood + Freeman + Damon + plus it's a moving, well-crafted film which most people will at least admire. This is the definition of a safe nominee.

They took 'The Blind Side' instead, which does not make a difference.
