Avatar does not deserve to win. Its inevitable nomination and being one of the frontrunners if not THE frontrunner will simply be a case of the Academy being behind everyone else and a makeup for last year's debacle. This is why many filmmakers needed to get their "due" in the past.

Why doesn't Avatar deserve to win?

JC has created a movie that has clicked with audiences around the world. He should be praised for helping to make the 3D platform that much more mainstream and economically viable for studios. It's nice that Hurt Locker is a universally praised film but it clearly didn't connect with the movie going public. Up in the Air has made decent coin as well but it didn't do anything notable within the Hollywood industry in terms of 3D. So, when a director who hasn't done a film in over a decade comes and creates a film that is going to make 1.8 billion maybe TWO, then I can't even justify why a film like Hurt Locker or UP in the Air would be chosen as Best Picture.

It's all about lightening striking twice, enhancing the film industry, and the unbelievable box office.

'Avatar'/James Cameron should win the Oscar, the award the film industry bestows upon those who in the last year have helped make the studios richer; it should, however, not win the award that is given to those who have created notable works of cinema art, because, no matter what the world's idiocy is made to believe, it simply is not good.

Don't worry, it will not win at the MTV movie awards.

Hey Argos you have been telling us that this is wrong and that is right. Why don't you tell us your best movies. It is always easy to comment on others you know :disgust:

That is why I am 100% supporting the pending resolution to change the Best Picture award title to Most Watched Picture.

I reckon it will; not that it were of any importance, of course.
