She won't win (or be nominated, probably), but I'm glad to see her getting good notices for Things We Lost in the Fire. It's always sad when an obviously talented actor/actress makes questionable career choices, but this looks to be a step back in the right direction for her.

Yep. Good move of her part to make another "serious" movie, but she just got overshadowed by Del Toro's performance. If anyone from this movie is getting even nominated is him.

best films? hardly. oscar time is in February. why bother. most of those movies come out in Australia around that time of the year anyway. and i always see the best movies.

I thought she was excellent in A Mighty Heart, but the movie's reviews weren't amazing (solid, yes, but not out of this world), it came out in the summer, and it completely bombed at the box office.
