Re: Jurassic Park III
He's great in Dead Calm, but wasted in Escape Plan. Not sure I've seen him in much else besides the Jurassic Park movies. I would like to see a fourth Jurassic Park if Spielberg directs.

That sort of rings a bell. Is that the Ethan Hawke movie?

Re: Jurassic Park III
Its the opposite of Part II, terrible whole film but great ending, here its an overall solid film, with even better reasoning than the first film, but what a shitty ending. In the end it makes it a lot of fun, but instantly forgettable. B+ and I'd love a 4th. They just need to really get a good concept together, it doesn't really matter who is actually in the movie.

Yes, I remember. The film isn't great, though.

Re: Jurassic Park III
It's a great idea, and Sam Neil is great in it, like most films. I hate Event Horizon, Omen III, etc. but he always pulls an amount of charm out of his roles. His role in Escape Plan is throwaway, but nonetheless good to see him in it.

Actually, in a rare occurence, I second David's statement about Gattaca. Jude Law's finest hour, IMO.

Re: Jurassic Park III
It's not that I hate Event Horizon, but its really every sci fi horror film thrown together in a trashy way. It's fun like early Anderson was like with Mortal Kombat and Soldier.

Re: Jurassic Park III
Jurassic Park III is trash. Good special effects, horrible script and worse acting (William H. Macy and Tea Leoni are AWFUL). The ending is ridiculous. C (all for special effects).
They really dropped the ball when they didn't get a 4th movie made soon after the 3D success of Avatar. Even 2 years ago before 3D fatigue in the U.S. would have been fine. Jurassic World will still make a lot of money, but it's not going to make as much as it could have if released a few years ago.
Sam Neill was also in The Hunt For Red October.

Re: Jurassic Park III
I saw on this on TNT the other day and the effects look like shit now. The first Jurassic Park holds up much better.
I still don't hate JP3 though. It's a nice chase movie ... with dinosaurs.

Re: Jurassic Park III
It's such a generic chase/monster movie, but I still kinda love it. The action scenes are fun and the dinosaurs look great for the most part, especially the raptors. Sam Neill must have got the easiest paycheck of his life doing this and I think he gives a solid performance here too. I almost keep forgetting that Tea Leoni and William H. Macy are in this, but they aren't bad as a couple and I even bought into the family drama a couple of times with the kid. Also, I really liked Michael Jeter's character in this and he will be very missed.

Re: Jurassic Park III
This one is terrible too. I slightly prefer it to the Lost World, even though it is obvious more effort went into that film. Just something about this I found more enjoyable. But there is still not one thing impressive in this movie.
