Haunted Mansion (2023)
Quote: Haunted Mansion is a 2023 American supernatural horror comedy film directed by Justin Simien from a screenplay by Katie Dippold. The film stars LaKeith Stanfield, Tiffany Haddish, Owen Wilson, Danny DeVito, Rosario Dawson, Dan Levy, Jamie Lee Curtis, and Jared Leto. Produced by Walt Disney Pictures and Rideback, it is the second theatrical film adaptation of Walt Disney's theme park attraction The Haunted Mansion, following the 2003 film of the same name. In the film, Gabbie (Dawson) and Travis (Chase W. Dillon) enlist the aid of a team (Stanfield, Haddish, Wilson, and DeVito) to help exorcise their mansion and destroy the ghosts around them.
Haunted Mansion premiered at Disneyland in Anaheim, California, on July 15, 2023, and was released in the United States on July 28 by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures.

Neither bad nor great. It's fine. I liked LaKeith as the lead.
Silly of them to release in July... think this would be a fitting watch for the Halloween season.

Yeah, another poor release date.

Pirates and Jungle Cruise released in July, I’m sure that’s why they went for this release date, as well as because The Marvels moved, and Disney wanted a tent pile for the back half of summer.

Re: Haunted Mansion (2023)
This was pretty lame, and felt aimed at very small children. The only good parts were the parts with Lakeith and his wife. No one else in the cast was very funny here. The ghosts looked alright, but the mansion felt very clean and soundstagey. It didn’t look old or have any grit to it at all.

Re: Haunted Mansion (2023)
Haunted Mansion felt like an 80/90s family-friendly spooky movie (Hocus, Nightmare Before Xmas, Goonies, Poltergeist,etc..) with a modern look. There was only so far they could go with that, it never tries to be more despite the various chances at political commentary, but it was fine. Mostly harmless. I liked the characters and the casting choices.
I'll give it a 6.1/10
