I thought it was pretty good... although I'm not really sure how I feel about the relationship between the leads. I'm not sure how much time has passed to the end of the movie but yeah, it's weird.

The Japanese jokes... yeah could've done without. And Bradley Cooper getting Oscar buzz for this is weird. His scenes are funny but hardly anything award worthy.

I liked this more than I was expecting to, especially the first hour, but by the end it definitely starts to drag. The cameos from Sean Penn and Bradley Cooper didn't really work for me (though Cooper's segment was more successful) and felt pointless. That being said, Alana Haim and Cooper Hoffman are great and I loved the interplay between their characters. It's also gorgeously filmed. B

A completely surreal experience framed around the concept of first (and forbidden) love. Though Licorice Pizza reminded me of Inherent Vice, it is also like nothing that has ever come before. Let's take two ridiculous characters who want to fall in love, but can't, and surround them with even more ridiculous people in 70s LA. So weird, so funny, and yet you can't help but want to run even further with these people.

My favorite line: "Is it circumsized? THEN YOU'RE A FUCKIN JEW!"

Everything Bradley says is a close second.

A

These bothered me at the time, and I don't think the movie would change all that much if say a) Gary was 17 going on 18 and b) John Michael Higgins just spoke horribly broken Japanese instead of doing an asian accent.

Yet by the end I realized that these were basically cartoon characters, ala something like Always Sunny in Philadelphia. You can laugh with them or at them, and they'll usually get some kind of comeuppance before their part in the story is over.

Wasn't a huge fan of this. It wasn't bad, but I think they could've just ended the movie rather than had all the time jumps. By the end you're really unsure what the point is.

It does a good job setting the vibe for the time/place and Alaina Haim is especially good, and it has some great scenes like the whole Bradley Cooper sequence, but I was pretty bored and felt the 2 hours for this one. I feel like the Gary character didn't quite work for me, if the point is that she's seeing something that's not there with him because she's desperate for anyone to like her, I feel like they could have just made the movie more clearly from her POV.
