Quote:
The Lie is a 2018 psychological thriller film written and directed by Veena Sud. The film is a remake of the 2015 German film We Monsters,[3] and stars Mireille Enos, Peter Sarsgaard and Joey King.[4] Jason Blum serves as a producer under his Blumhouse Productions banner.

The Lie is based on the Murder of Meredith Kercher, widely known as the Amanda Knox case, and produced the same year as the acclaimed The Accused (2018 film) from Argentina and La Fille au bracelet (2019 film) from France. The three films have three different mix of interests : the murder in the north-american film, the parents in the south american film, the teenager and the judge in the european film.

The Lie premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival on September 13, 2018, and was released on October 6, 2020, by Amazon Studios.

Post Re: The Lie
There are some great performances in this from Mireille Enos, Peter Sarsgaard and Joey King, but there characters frustrated the hell out of me, especially Joey King's character who deserved to be strangled IMO. So many people make one bad decision after another in this and the finale of this movie is just one big fuck you twist, but it actually didn't make me mad, because I kind of saw it coming. I was thoroughly entertained at least, but most people might find it hard to sit through.

Misguided ending ruins an otherwise great drama and strong performances from the leads. Joey King is annoying at first but once the twist kicks in and you know the characters motives you can feel the acting from her. Mireille Enos and Peter Sarsgaard as tormented parents are really good in here as well.
