Cliched execution and wooden acting makes this otherwise great story look like yet another biographical films. It starts effectively but then there is so much time spent on building it as a biographical movie that most meaty stuffs are passed as mere mentions. The titular song's impact is not stressed enough, though the finale was really effective. Evan Peters didn't just do anything here, his arc is almost abandoned in middle. Tilda Cobham-Hervey is good at times but mostly not very effective to bring out the pain that the singer was going through.
