Another wonderful indie film where Nicole Beharie gives an endearing performance as Turquoise Jones. It carries a bigger emotional punch in the end but forgets to tie some of the threads in the end. The best part is the first two-third of world building, the competition and the result of a financially struggling parent's obsession to get what they couldn't get. The competition is really and I loved the resolution (which I would not spoil here). The husband's story and buying out the business was a bit rushed, it also fails to bring out the pressure on child from an obsessive parent's expectations.
