Believe this is the first Kurosawa I've seen and I wasn't very impressed by it. It's reasonably memorable though and there's a certain style to it that's appreciative, so I can see how he's somewhat of auteur by way of this film. Each story is just really dream like, meaning it's very abstract and there's a lot of ambiguity to it, so it really feels more of an exercise in observation than feeling part of it. It also winds a bit a long for one stretch watch, though in itself there's something artful about each segment.
