Bella Thorne and Patrick Schwarzenegger showcase good chemistry but the movie is too predictable and safe in its execution. Speer and Kirsten are only interested in showing the good side of XP disease and romantic elements and leave no room for any emotional heft. Also "struggles to decide" is completely wrong because Katie addresses that to her father's concern by saying "oh let me live like a normal girl for a few days" and then once the boy knows she conveniently ditches him. First the struggle of staying alone whole day are never explored, second the teasing of others is just hinted once, the third act has no conflict between the leads other than a script demand and the very finale leaves zero emotional impact. Thorne is good here but Patrick seems to fit a posing model role here without ever showcasing any lead quality. Only saving grace were the supporting characters of Rob Riggle and Quinn Shephard, two characters developed surprisingly well and both actors give committed performances.
