Re: The Autopsy of Jane Doe
This was great and one of the most overlooked films of last year for sure. It's quite a similar film to Cloverfield Lane 10, and anyone who's into that one, I recommend this one too. It has a same "taking place in one house" thriller setting, but the sci-fi is replaced with horror. Brian Cox is at his best I can ever remember as well as Hirsh is good whom I don't remember being in high profile films of late. So just really well acted, very eerie, gruesome at times with the autopsy and just scary and fascinating. The first half was just brilliant for me, then in the second half it becomes more horror, all together it's just an excellent thriller. An efficient run time of a bit under 90min. makes for a very neatly directed story.

Re: The Autopsy of Jane Doe
This movie is the definition of a quick crash and burn. For about the first 30 minutes are so this was fantastic, but then they had to throw in a ridiculous amount of cheap jump scares. All the creepiness, mystery and intrigue just got zapped out of it for me which was disappointing considering how much I was enjoying it up until then. Brian Cox and Emile Hirsch are in fine form too and the director is definitely talented, but the execution could have been a lot stronger IMO.

Re: The Autopsy of Jane Doe
The second half of the film is definitely not as good as the first half, but the drop still isn't huge for me though. From a mystery thriller it turned into a supernatural horror, and I had to adjust a bit with that, but I still thought it was great how the story made the connection with the Salem witch trials and neatly tied it up.
I guess it could have been a different film and I'm not sure where they had to go with it instead, but this path still worked for me.
