 Re: God Bless America
Fuck this wannabe-cool, dishonest and blunt film. Bobcat Goldthwait must be very very pissed with society today. Too bad his movie propagates some of the things he apparently despises.

I enjoyed it. Its not as big as say Kick-Ass was, but it is still very enjoyable and reasonably violent. Barr was a great find for this film.

I found it amusing with some funny moments. I definitely hoped to love it more but it was fairly enjoyable. Not as great as Goldthwait's Sleeping Dogs Lie.

I laughed a few times, but as a narrative it fails.

I laughed a few times too, but I think they were all in the first five minutes. It was a tough sit

 Re: God Bless America
It's a good effort. Ultimately it is too preachy to be the comedy it wants, and too single-minded to be the cultural statement it wants. C

God Bless America
A satisfying easy-watch black comedy. Playing with entertainment and controversy is always an exciting play to behold. There's a lot of idealistic truth and observational critique on display which is easily consumable and hilariously dark but also rather repetitive. It's great in sit-back-and-relax viewer mode, but raises more questions than it answers when it attempts a societal narrative. Still, I appreciate indie films like God Bless America. Charged with the freedom that a studio picture wouldn't be allowed is gloriously addictive until the credits roll.
