Re: Bridget Jones's Baby
I remember liking the first two. People who remember the first two will probably like this one.
This is just...there. It's cute in places, but did I laugh? Not much.
And can someone explain to me how Dempsey's character finds them in the street right before the end. He just happened to be driving by? What luck!

I remember liking them because I have a Flixster account that tells me I gave them a good grade. I, however, couldn't tell you a fucking detail about either film aside from the actors. People who remember the first two movies, will probably enjoy this one. Inferring can be enjoyable. Fun with words!

You don't remember Firth and Grant's awesome fight scene?

Re: Bridget Jones's Baby
I remember it from the first, but I believe there is a retread in the second, too.
In the second, I remember Bridget ends up in a...Thai? prison.

Re: Bridget Jones's Baby
That honestly sounds more realistic than the ending to this one. This takes place on another planet. Dempsey's character is still friends with both of them even though he isn't the father and isn't chosen? Uh huh.

Re: Bridget Jones's Baby
This was definitely more "Edge of Reason" than anything, unfortunately. There was just no point for this to exist and Renee was actually quite terrible this time around and Colin Firth was wasted. The bright spot here is Patrick Dempsey, who is incredibly charming. Also, the whole thing with Hugh's Grant's funeral and the final shot was just terrible and I have no idea how the final shot ended up in the movie. Who thought that was funny? Overall, there were a few worthwhile moments but it's a far cry from the original.

Re: Bridget Jones's Baby
So this was delightful! And a much better follow-up than The Edge of Reason was. Renee Zellweger is a hoot, slipping right back into the plucky, lovable role of Bridget, but with a more mature edge this time out. I suspect we won't be seeing any more Bridget Jones movies after this, which is OK with me. This one serves as a bouncy, funny conclusion to the character. B+

Re: Bridget Jones's Baby
Highly enjoyed this! Renee Zellweger is wonderful yet again and it's a joy to have her back on the big screen after such a long absence, and Colin Firth is great too. Patrick Dempsey makes a nice addition and Emma Thompson is hilarious in her scenes. It's a sweet, good-hearted and old-fashioned rom-com that should please fans of the series immensely. And it's way more satisfying than the sequel. The last 30 minutes are so are hilarious and incredibly satisfying. A-

Re: Bridget Jones's Baby
I have to ask again: How does Dempsey's character find them running on the street to the hospital?

Well I kind of took it more that he was driving by - it's definitely a plot hole but it's forgivable.

Re: Bridget Jones's Baby
Bridget Jones's Baby, despite suffering from some erratic pacing, was mostly an unexpected treat. I enjoyed seeing the older Bridget and look forward to the teased fourth entry in the series! *B+*
(Fun Fact: The screenplay was co-written by Academy Award winning writer Emma Thompson.)

I just rewatched this tonight with my family and it's still delightful, but they do actually address this. The Italian restaurant guy that is driving them when they end up in traffic actually says "I'll call Jack!" when they decide to walk to the hospital.

I have both previous BJ movies stuck in my head as charming and funny movies. Not masterpieces, but good-ish ones. This one barely has a couple of laughs (the Indian surname being a pretty damn funny joke) and a really confusing identity. There were loads of chances this could've played into the modern notion of love, relationships and female empowerment. I'd love if the baby wasn't Marks' but Jack's. But every time the movie could've done something a bit modern it steers hard into the old fashioned traditional notion of perfect ideal life and relationship. Which was very disappointing to me and made me dislike this entry.

Bridget Jones's Baby
I enjoyed this very much. I wish I had watched this at the cinema now. Loved the mystery over who the dad is, and the father contest showed glimpses of promise and humour. It wasn't the desired outcome (Darcy is so rigid and boring - I much preferred Jack) but I guess it was the correct result for the franchise regarding the history of the titular character. Though the final shot was totally pointless but obviously is there to set up a fourth. Better than Edge of Reason. Not as good as the first. A solid entry in the series. But I hope this is the final one.
